Congratulations to Year 5 for achieving all their class merits. Here’s to the next 50!
Our topic this half term is 'Being Human' and already the children have shown good research skills finding out about the human body and its systems. The topic includes a Science investigation to show how different liquids affect teeth and, in International, we will be comparing healthcare in this country to that of people living abroad in less fortunate areas.
The half term began with our 'Habitats' art project in partnership with Manchester Art Gallery. The children produced works of art based on pieces from the gallery's Horsefall Collection, which have been loaned to school and are currently on display in the main corridor. We enjoyed exploring the marina through photography and taking part in an artist-led gallery workshop.
PE days are still Mondays and Thursdays and full school kit must be brought in.
Finally, the Accelerated Reading programme is proving to be a great success, with the children very motivated to read. Please read with your child at home as often as you can. The Year 5 spellings should be continually practised, along with times tables. Please can I encourage everyone to work hard on these for the remainder of the year to ensure we are as prepared as possible for year 6.
Many thanks for your continued support.
