We have had a fantastic first half term and already the children are making lots of wonderful progress.
Our topics this half term are People Who Help Us and Winter. We are learning about how lots of different people can help us and keep us safe - exploring a range of different occupations and having some special visitors to tell us more! Later this term, as it gets colder, we will be exploring the changes in weather during winter and what it is like in arctic regions.
During the lead up to Christmas we will be learning about the Christmas story, practising for our Nativity play and writing letters to Father Christmas! In the coming weeks, we will be sending home speaking parts for the play for you to practise at home.
Home-school books are sent home on Fridays, and will inform you of any home tasks which have been set. Your child can use the book for their work and also as a scrap book to record any special moments, events, trips, discoveries etc which they would like to share with us. The home-school book is due in on Mondays.
Reading books are sent home each week. Please ensure that they are kept in the children’s bags so that we can read with the children at school and change their books. Please bring book bags in every day.
HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS
These special words are to be practised at home on a regular basis. Children need to be able to read them without sounding out each individual letter.
A few reminders:
• All belongings need to be clearly labelled.
• We provide children with water bottles and fruit, so please don’t send in any food or drinks for snacks for the children.
• PE kits are kept in school - we will send them home when they need washing.
• We ask that the outdoor equipment, including the climbing frame, is not to be used at the end of the school day.
Keep an eye on our class page for future developments!
